IL CANTO DELL'EROS

Last weekend my friend and I went at the opening of Octavia Monaco's Il canto dell'Eros.

The exhibition will show till 23rd of October in Bologna at B4 Art Gallery, just in case someone of you happens to be in the area. In this series of works on paper, Octavia explores Eros taking inspiration from the ancient repertory of Eastern, mystical and alchemical knowledge. Interesting to see her work in this project, where elements from different cultures all over the world do come together in her illustrations, generating a unique and sophisticated imaginery and vision.

MY LEGENDARY 1960s

Unfortunately there are not so many pictures of me as a child, but apparently my mum took really great care in dressing me up. She drew inspiration from the most beautiful and great icons of the time. As you can see, I was in good company then.

A PORTRAIT A WEEK 38/52

A portrait of my child, once a week, every week, in 2013

Happy to see E enjoying the company of my dearest friend Lotte, who stayed with us for the weekend. He really likes her a lot. Actually for the first time Erik was not so much jealous of his mummy as he usually is when my friends visit. This meant the 3 of us had great time together plus me and my friend even had some time for girl talk.

Wherever you go, no matter how, little E will always end up playing on the ground. He manages to find everywhere irresistible attractive specimens: from confetti to grass, from unknown rubbish to insects, you name it he likes to play with it.
This time was some rice leftovers after some wedding ceremony.
Each evening a well needed bath.

A PORTRAIT A WEEK 36/52

A portrait of my child, once a week, every week, in 2013

A picture of a recent adventure: digging for minerals in a open pit mine on Elba. All ingredients for fun were there: hammers, dirty hands, surprise. Lots of emotions for little E (mum and dad too), and a bag full of self discovered pyrite and hematites to take home with us.

SUMMER ENDS, HELLO SEPTEMBER!

Hello, I missed you!
Some friends pointed out I was endlessly on holiday this summer. Well, it's true in a way but I had my computer+work with me. Anyway I am very happy and thankful I was able to be away from home for so long this summer, on the mountains nearby my hometown and lately on a beautiful island in Tuscany for a week.
Here a sum up of that week. Elba was especially nice as the place where to celebrate the end of summer. We loved the house we stayed in, eating on the balcony looking at the sea and -since it faced west- we enjoyed lovely sunsets each evening. Also we loved swimming in such beautiful blue waters, digging in a mine hunting for treasures and... the fact the three of us were finally reunited again after Mr T's long faraway working schedules.

But now it's totally time to get back to normal life at home. This also means back to work for me. Yay :-) I am very excited about a new project: design the interiors of a lovely shop I will tell you more about soon. Preparing mood-boards for the client is the first step and one I like very much doing so this is what's going on at the moment here.

I want to get back to my usual blogging rhythm as well, there is plenty of things I want to share. I'll try my best. Since I know my days will be happily busy from now on, I will write my posts at night time -just like I'm doing now.
Some of you following me for a while know I am a working-from-home mum who's not yet good in everyday struggle to balance work and family life. I also know many of you out there are facing the same struggle.
Let's keep going and happy thursday everyone!

LAST SUMMER DAYS

I wanted to drop a quick hello as I have been fairly absent recently. As the last part of what it looks like a never ending holiday, I have landed Elba island, where I'll stay with my boys for a few days before finally welcoming the new working year -that starts for me usually in september.
Wish you all lovely days until then.
