LA LINEA

+ When my brother in law introduced to my son Mr Linea it was immediate love. Quite predictably I must say. Why did I not think about it myself? It's such a great character!
I first saw the series broadcast on Carosello when I was a child. The first episodes of the animated series were in fact used to publicize Lagostina kitchenware products, but later it broke its association with it. 

La Linea - 'The Line' - was created by Italian cartoonist Osvaldo Cavandoli and was broadcast between 1971 and 1986.  Cavandoli revolutionized the world of animations with this cartoon that can be regarded as avant-garde for the period. The minimalist style of a single line that forms the irascible protagonist and all the actors, amazes and fascinates from the start the audience accustomed to the traditional sketch style Carosello.

The voice, cleverly onomatopoeic and very Milanese is by Giancarlo Bonomi. It gave the cartoon the chance to be easily exported without dubbing: over the years in fact the series aired in more than 40 countries around the world. The voice resembles Pingu's, the Swiss animated penguin, which was also voiced by Bonomi. The soundtrack is a jazz arrangement and adds a lot to the animation, as well.

Mr Linea drawn as a single outline, walks on an infinite line of which he is a part. The character encounters obstacles and often turns to the cartoonist, represented as a live-action hand holding a white grease pencil, to draw him a solution, with various degrees of success. It's funny, clever and extremely creative.
